Gautam Bhatia
Gautam graduated from the National Law School of India University in 2011. He read for the BCL and the MPhil at the University of Oxford (on a Rhodes scholarship), and the LLM at Yale Law School. At Oxford, he won the Herbert Hart Prize for writing the best essays in Jurisprudence and Political. Currently he is practicing in New Delhi, and is a visiting faculty at various Law schools. As a lawyer, he has been part of legal teams involved in contemporary constitutional cases, such as the challenge to criminal defamation, the nine judge bench right to privacy case, the section 377 challenge, and the Aadhar challenge. He has authored 2 books titled “Offend, Shock or Disturb: Freedom of Speech under the Indian Constitution published in 2015 and “Transformative Constitution" published in 2019. He writes very frequently in newspapers and has founded one of the most famous law blogs in India, the Indian Constitutional Law and Philosophy Blog (http://indconlawphil.wordpress.com). His work has been cited thrice by the Indian Supreme Court, and once by the High Court of Kerala.

Abhinav Sekhri
Abhinav is a lawyer in New Delhi, primarily practicing in criminal Law. In 2017 he was awarded the prestigious Inlaks scholarship and thereafter he went onto pursue his LLM from Harvard Law School. Apar Gupta
Apar is a lawyer and the Executive Director of the Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) which is an Indian digital organization that seeks to ensure that technology respects fundamental rights. Completing his post-graduation from the Columbia University School of Law, Apar has worked as a commercial litigator in top law firms and was a partner at Advani & Co. From 2015, he has been working extensively on public interest issues. His work as a lawyer include key digital rights cases on privacy and censorship. He is part of key constitutional challenges on Section 66A, the Right to Privacy and Aadhar representing public interest litigants. Beyond court, he has worked extensively with activists and set up digital campaigns such as those on Net Neutrality (SaveTheInternet.in), fight against defamation laws (SpeechBill.in) and safeguard privacy (SaveOurPrivacy.in). With IFF and several digital campaigns, Apar is committed to advancing values of the Constitution of India in a digital, technology mediated society.

There she was a Founding Member and Editor of the Socio-Legal Review, Convener of the Indian Journal of Alternate Dispute Resolution, Secretary General of the Academic Support Programme, etc. She did her BCL from University of Oxford where she was awarded with the Ralph Chiles CBE Award for Comparative Justice and Human Rights. She did her master’s degree in Public Policy from Blavatnik School of Government (University of Oxford). She has worked as a Research Assistant under Professor Adrian Zuckerman and as a consultant to Law Commission of India. She later joined litigation and worked with lawyers like Mr. Trideep Pais and Sr. Advocate, Mr. K.V. Viswanathan. She has worked on the constitutionality challenge of Aadhar Act and of India’s surveillance regime. From July 2019, she is working as an independent Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of India and is a legal counsel for Internet Freedom Foundation.

JagLAG is an organization which provides free legal aid to Adivasis in Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Sukma and Bijapur. Describing her as one of the spunkiest listees, she was listed in Forbes India’s 30 under 30 list of 2015 along with her fellow colleagues at JagLAG for taking up the job of fixing the ills of legal system. She frequently writes about the human rights violation in tribal areas of Chhattisgarh and state’s responsibility for respecting the fundamental rights of indigenous population and upholding the constitutional values.
